Dear Serfers,
The 2021 Academy Awards will be handed out on Sunday night, April 25, and we would be remiss if we didn't at least take a stab at guessing (note that we didn't say "predicting") the winners. The onus fell on Guy Malone, Researcher because we saw fewer movies than in any other year of predictions. Ergo, what we have is a distillation of movies we saw, opinions gleaned from GM,R's work, our own personal prejudices (as always), and the extrapolation of all three.
Examples:
1 - We enjoyed The Trial of the Chicago Seven, but we had a problem with Aaron Sorkin's loose handling of history and the fact that he is Aaron Sorkin.
2 - We didn't enjoy Nomadland, but we recognize important art when we see it.
3 - We love sweet soul and jazz
4 - We've learned to never take a flyer on the short films
So, don't bet on these.
Sincerely,
FilmZ
